I remember when the finger jointer was first introduced, the filmed a commercial in the (at the time) field across the hwy from the Venture Inn, I believe the bowling alley is there now. They plucked a Ponderosa Pine from the woulds and "replanted it in the field. The they made a 2 x 4 about 200 foeet long using the finger joined. The had men on both sides of this 2 x 4, the center of it against the tree trunk, and purposly broke the 2 x 4 in half proving that the finger joint was stronger than the actual wood. Thanks for the memory!Dean Kershnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06681145885290780340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093639789047271332.post-2030423139437947602016-03-10T11:35:47.698-06:002016-03-10T11:35:47.698-06:00I work at the finger jointer and it sure looks dif...I work at the finger jointer and it sure looks different now.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15385099475519101217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093639789047271332.post-52957290795406331812016-03-10T11:34:39.268-06:002016-03-10T11:34:39.268-06:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15385099475519101217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093639789047271332.post-55765583334249492122015-09-15T15:08:15.526-05:002015-09-15T15:08:15.526-05:00The 1st photo looks like from the clay banks, look...The 1st photo looks like from the clay banks, looking west at Libby and the mill, with Treasure mountain, Scenery mountain, Indian Head mountain, and Dome mountain covered by Clouds Don Smart on facebookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12539157932336529441noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4093639789047271332.post-60157891392975028942014-06-04T12:23:04.590-05:002014-06-04T12:23:04.590-05:00These old photos are great! Originally from Germany, he came to Libby from Sauk Rapids with the Neils family. He actually lived in a home at the rear of the yard near Libby Creek until 1970.
